Date: June 2015
Project: Kinloch Lodge – A luxury function centre which caters for the luxury villa accommodation at The Kinloch Club, Taupo
Professionals involved: Patterson Architects, Virginia Fisher Interior Design, Livingstone Builders
Criteria: The design brief was to create a uber-modern version of a Scottish castle to tie in with the Scottish heritage of the Kinloch name. Interior designer Virginia Fisher came to us asking if we could produce a rough textured wooden plank in black and white, for use on the walls and ceilings of the new lodge to help give it an old castle feel.
Solution: We had a heavy rough sawn effect applied to 240mm wide engineered Oak planks, which were supplied pre-finished oiled in black and white. This was just the look Virginia was after.
Outcome: The rough sawn Oak wall paneling was used on the walls and ceilings of the lodge and gives a very castle-like feel. Set alongside lush velvet, fox fur, brass, copper, slate and wool the lodge perfectly achieves an air of modern royalty.
