Our Story

James Piesse founds Heritage Timbers with his father Kelvin, wholesaling NZ native timbers. They supply beams, panelling, sarking, TG&V, solid timber flooring, sleepers and more.

A purpose-built sawmill is installed, allowing Heritage Timbers to mill logs on site. Heritage Timbers grows to one of New Zealand's native largest timber wholesalers.

James's father retires and the company is faced with major logging restrictions making native NZ timbers very difficult to source.

Heritage Timbers battles through difficult times including a global recession, and emerges with a new vision - to specialise in imported engineered timber flooring.

Heritage Timbers changes its name to Forté Flooring and quickly grows to become one of NZ's leading timber flooring and wall covering specalists
